Blood Sugar – Why IIFYM Won’t Work

Blood Sugar – Why IIFYM Won’t Workiifym

I should specify, if you are a “normal person” with a “normal” appetite, then If It Fits Your Macros aka IIFYM will not work.

Blood Sugar is basically you’re energy levels.  But with blood sugar “High” doesn’t mean more energy and neither does “Low”, we feel our best when our blood sugar is balanced between low and high.  That’s when we have the most energy.

The IIFYM style of dieting is targeted at people who “Do not want to give up certain foods” while getting the body the desire.

This very mindset is completely shitty if you’re trying to make progress and it sets up a mental barrier in that you giving your brain messages such as “I want to meet my fitness goals, but only so long as getting there isn’t Too Hard or Too Uncomfortable.”

It’s not a winner’s mindset and it’s not going to get you accomplishing out of the ordinary things.  That’s why you’re going to the gym right?  You’re sick of being ordinary and you are ready for a change, you really want to build up a body you will feel proud of, be extraordinary.IIFYM

The foods that you don’t want to give up “Treats, Sweets, Desserts, Fatty Foods” are the types of food that make your blood sugar Shoot into the Sky and then come crashing back down to planet earth.

The foods that keep your blood sugar levels stable are whole unprocessed foods like meat, vegetables, whole wheat pasta and bread and rice, as well as good fats like avocado and olive oil.  All of the traditional “Bro” foods.  The reason old school bodybuilder “Bros” ate those foods, is that they work.  When you eat those foods to fill your daily macronutrient requirements you have steady energy throughout the day and don’t feel like shit or have to suffer on your diet.iifym

The main reason people suffer and have trouble sticking to their diet is because they “Feel like shit”.  When you are restricting your calories + having blood sugar YoYo syndrome, you aren’t going to be feeling very good at all. Imagine a Cranky Grandmother.  That’s me when i’m cutting weight, getting leaner, but eating shitty junk foods IIFYM style.

With IIFYM you can eat whatever food you want as long as the Carbs, Fats, and Protein add up to the right numbers at the end of the day.  That is where the joke about eating poptarts and doughnuts while getting cut up came fromIIFYM.

Maybe you could stay on that diet and get results but most people will not.  If you feel like shit, shaky low blood sugar, sleepy drowsy high blood sugar, you are likely to cheat on your diet.  This principle of sticking to your diet is called “Diet Adherence.” Myself, being a bodybuilding coach know how important diet adherence is.  Tons of diets will work to strip fat off of people’s bodies if they are followed strictly.  The problem with getting results comes from when after 3 or 4 weeks of suffering on your diet all of your mental will power is used up and you need to take time to recover.

When you first start dieting you can stand some pain, but if it’s fairly severe pain for months at IIFYMa time, it can completely mess with your will power and mind.  Wearing you down from enthusiastic about dieting during week 1 to asking yourself “How can I endure this for 8 more weeks?” during week 3.

Everyone wants a Magic Pill to get Easy Fast Results.

Most people have zero results and look like shit lol.

The people who want to just take fat burning pills, or drink protein and take creatine, or take steroids or whatever, but not do the more important things like focusing on having great training and iifymdiet are not going to get much if any results at all.

You cannot take pills, creatine, steroids whatever and just sit on your ass and eat like shit while making good progress.  You’ve got to go all in.  Trying to find a pill and an easy way out is laughable.  If you ask any expert who has got long term positive results at any skill, they will always say mastering the basics is the most important aspect of being good at what they do.

Eat the way you know you should on a diet.  Don’t try to cut corners with this IIFYM shit.
